Games

The strand units of the Games curriculum include: Sending, receiving and travelling Creating and playing games Understanding and appreciation of games During Games lessons children are provided with opportunities to develop skills, create and play games, understand and appreciate new and familiar games.  The children have opportunities to develop skills and understanding through enjoyable individual, small group and team activities.                         This strand is also supported by Sean Crowley, a Games Development Administrator with Cork GAA who visits our school every week to teach us some skills involved with GAA. Dance

Our children love taking part in the Dance strand of the Physical Education curriculum. During out Active Week we had music on the yard which our children fully embraced! We also do GoNoodle as part of our brain breaks and on wet days. Stay tuned for more pictures of our...

Athletics

Athletics is our strand for development this year and we focused on this strand in our Physical Education lessons in September and again in April/May. Running Initiative

This year Sport Ireland and Active School Flag encouraged schools to put on their running shoes and visit some of the most famous landmarks in Europe. Scoil Chlíodhna CNS decided to run the distance from Cork to The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France which was 778 kilometres! Every lap that we ran equalled 1 km, we had so much fun! It was a great way to RUN, have FUN and LEARN along the way. Physical Education

All classes are taught 5 different PE strands each year: Athletics, Aquatics, Dance, Games, Outdoor and Adventure. In Scoil Chlíodhna each class receives at least an hour per week of physical education. By taking part in the Active School Flag programme it has helped us to focus on an improving Physical Education in our school. Teachers use the Primary Schools’ Sport Initiative (PSSI) to help when teaching and delivering the different...
